Blended Delivery
NNZMC Pty Ltd T/a Industry Skills Solutions RTO 45974 offers this qualification through a blended delivery pathway.
This includes the use of our enhanced online learning platform, submission of a learner portfolio and in-workplace training and assessment (face to face, microsoft teams (or alike) or via video submission).
This delivery method is ideal for new entrants to the drilling industry.
Expected duration: approximately 12–18 months. Actual completion time may vary depending on the participant's existing skills and experience, workplace opportunities, selected electives, individual training needs and progress.

Entry Requirements
RII31820 has no formal entry requirements specified in the Training Package. For this workplace-supported delivery pathway, Industry Skills Solutions requires participants to meet the following requirements:
- Participants must be 18 years and over
- ID is required
- A Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number (or exemption). This is required prior to enrolments being processed. To obtain a USI number, please go to www.usi.gov.au to register.
- Participants must be employed in, or have ongoing access to, a suitable drilling workplace that enables them to undertake the required workplace training, practice and assessment activities for their selected units of competency. Employer/workplace support will be required.
- Online study/evidence submission: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online studies/evidence submission.
- Participants must have the physical capability to safely undertake the practical activities and assessment requirements relevant to their selected units and workplace role.
- Participants must wear enclosed shoes/safety shoes and comfortable/practical clothing (if required)
- Language, literacy and numeracy requirements - students must be able to read and correctly interpret required documentation relevant to drilling operations, speak clearly and unambiguously in English, explain, describe and verify sometimes complex needs and issues and understand the risk assessment requirements. Writing is required to the level of completing workplace forms and producing any required reports. Numeracy is required to the level of being able to correctly calculate hole depth, mud weights and down hole equipment length.
- Digital skills: students need basic digital skills to enrol and to complete any online learning, including using a computer, tablet or smartphone, a web browser and email.
- Language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) assessment: every student completes an LLND assessment with Industry Skills Solutions before enrolment is confirmed, to check the course is suitable and to identify any support needed. A completed LLND assessment is valid for 12 months; returning students complete a new one after 12 months.
Students who may require reasonable adjustment or additional support should contact Industry Skills Solutions before enrolment so their needs can be discussed. Reasonable adjustment cannot remove essential competency or safety requirements.
Enrolment is confirmed only once all entry requirements have been met.

Qualification Description
This qualification reflects the role of individuals such as driller or trainee driller, who perform tasks across a broad range of drilling operations. The position often requires the exercise of judgement and decision-making in the selection of drilling equipment, services, and/or contingency measures.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply directly to this qualification at the time of publication. Individual units of competency or workplace activities may be subject to separate regulatory, licensing or site requirements.

Fees
Total course fee: $2,500 GST Free
Initial enrolment instalment: $1,500
Final course fee instalment: $1,000
The final instalment is payable prior to completion of the final assessment, in accordance with the Fees and Refunds Policy.

Units of Competency
Total number of units = 13 - 8 core units plus 5 elective units, of which:
- at least one (1) must be chosen from Group A whose unit title begins with 'Conduct'
- at least one (1) unit may be chosen from Group B
- no more than two (2) units may be chosen from elsewhere within this training package, or from another endorsed training package, or from an accredited course.

ELECTIVE UNITS OF COMPETENCY
Five elective units are required to complete the qualification. Electives are selected in consultation with the student and employer, based on the learner's drilling role, workplace activities and the RII31820 packaging rules. The agreed electives will be documented in the student's individual training plan.

Assessment
Individuals undertaking this Qualification with NNZMC PTY LTD T/a Industry Skills Solutions may be expected to complete a submission of evidence/student portfolio, verbal, written and practical assessment tasks.
