Service Overview
Confined space work is one of the highest-risk activities on any site — and when something goes wrong, the equipment is what stands between a worker and a fatality. Inspekta inspects confined space safety equipment across regional NSW so your gear is fit for purpose, compliant and ready when it's needed most.
Servicing Dubbo, Wagga Wagga and New South Wales, our inspections are carried out in accordance with AS 2865 (Confined spaces) and the relevant equipment standards, supporting your work health and safety obligations across mining, civil construction, renewables, drilling, water/wastewater and industrial sites.
What We Inspect
- Gas detectors & atmospheric monitors — multi-gas and single-gas detectors (bump testing and calibration — see note 1)
- Breathing apparatus — self-contained (SCBA) and airline/supplied-air respirators (see note 2)
- Retrieval & rescue systems — tripods, davit arms, winches and retrieval devices
- Confined space entry harnesses & fall-arrest equipment — harnesses, lanyards and retrieval SRLs
- Ventilation equipment — blowers and ducting (function check)
- Communication equipment
What Our Inspection Involves
- Detailed equipment inspection — we examine each item for damage, wear, corrosion and function, and confirm it is complete, correctly marked and fit for service.
- Gas detector verification — we bump-test detectors against certified gas to confirm they alarm correctly, and (where in scope) calibrate them using NATA-traceable calibration gas so alarm set-points read accurately.
- Retrieval & harness inspection — tripods, winches, retrieval devices and entry harnesses are inspected against AS/NZS 1891, with anything unfit tagged out of service.
- Pass / fail & tagging — compliant equipment is tagged with the inspection/calibration date and next-due date; failed items are tagged out of service and removed.
- Detailed report — you receive a written report documenting each item's condition, results and any corrective actions, which you retain as evidence of due diligence.
Compliance Standards
Our inspections are carried out in accordance with the relevant standards for each item, including:
- AS 2865 — Confined spaces (safe working in a confined space)
- AS/NZS 60079.29.2 — Gas detectors: selection, installation, use and maintenance
- AS/NZS 1715 / AS/NZS 1716 — Respiratory protective equipment (selection/use/maintenance, and devices)
- AS/NZS 1891 — Fall-arrest and retrieval systems and devices
Your obligations. Confined space work carries mandatory duties under Work Health and Safety law (WHS Regulation, Part 4.3 — Confined spaces): a risk assessment by a competent person, an entry permit, atmospheric monitoring, a standby person and a rescue plan. Keeping the equipment that underpins those controls — gas detectors, breathing apparatus and retrieval systems — inspected, calibrated and fit for service is how you meet that duty. A documented inspection is your evidence of due diligence for regulators and insurers, and — in an environment where a failure can be fatal — the assurance your equipment will work.
