Course Description
The EWPA Yellow Card Training Program has been designed for people needing to develop the skills and knowledge required to operate Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs or commonly known as EWPs). Designed by the peak industry body as a best practice training package, the course provides training in the safe use of various types of EWPs including boom type EWPs with boom length under 11 metres.
Participants may complete singular or multiple modules, depending on the type of EWP they will be operating. Modules include:
- Vertical Lift (VL)
- Scissor Lift (SL)

Course Schedule
Step 1: Face-to-face training and assessment (1 day)

Entry Requirements
- Participants must be 16 years and over
- Participants must have the physical capability to be able to meet the demands of the practical skills demonstration;
- Participants must wear enclosed shoes/safety shoes and comfortable/practical clothing
- Language, literacy and numeracy requirements - students must be able to read and correctly interpret required documentation relevant to working at height, speak clearly and unambiguously in English, explain, describe and verify sometimes complex needs and issues and understand the risk assessment requirements. Writing is required to the level of completing workplace forms and producing any required reports. Numeracy is required to the level of being able to correctly calculate total fall distances.
- On the day of training, you will be required to undertake a pre work assessment before participating in your Yellow Card course. Please ensure you have a mobile or desktop device with Wi-Fi capability for this purpose.
- Each participant is required to successfully complete both parts (100% correct with 2 attempts) in the required timeframe (15 mins) before training can be attempted. The PWA is made up of 2 questions relating to your reading ability and 3 relating to your numerical ability. Calculators may be used. This is a minimum legal job safety requirement to operate a EWP or a Telescopic Handler.
- Participants who need additional help after completing this PWA will not be allowed to attend training and will be offered alternative free help if required and may complete training at a later date. Future attempts at completing a YC or GC must be accompanied with evidence of literacy and numeracy training by an approved provider before a second application can be approved.
- Ensure you bring sufficient identification with name and photo (eg drivers licence or passport), dress appropriately and wear suitable footwear for the training session.

Participants undertaking the this training will undertake:
- Classroom theory
- Practical demonstration
- Physical operation and;
- Online assessment

Outcome
Upon successful completion of this training course, successul participants are issued with digital EWPA - EWP Operator Licence Yellow Card for the class of EWP you have completed.
