This refresher course is designed for individuals who need to renew their competency in line with current industry and workplace standards. It is suitable for participants who have successfully completed the Working Safely at Heights unit (RIIWHS204E or RIIWHS204D) within the past four years and have maintained their skills, knowledge, and industry currency during that period.

Working at heights training is essential for someone who works in a position where there is any risk of a fall.

With the aim of preventing falls, working at heights training will provide you with the skills, knowledge and most importantly the confidence required to work safely at heights in the work environment safely. 

The course covers applying policies and procedures, using document information to interpret and apply technical and safety information; assessing hazards and risks for working at heights and how to control them; using personal protective equipment; identifying safety systems and fall protection equipment (rigging of and anchoring systems) and checking the fitting, making adjustments and anchoring of fall protection equipment.

Step 1: Completion of the student self assessment and submission of evidence (previous certification) for review.

Your self-assessment and submitted evidence will be reviewed and verified before you are permitted to proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Face-to-face training and assessment (1/2 day) 

An individual undertaking this course on behalf of NNZMC PTY LTD T/a Industry Skills Solutions will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry: 

• Participants must have completed the self assessment and submitted acceptable evidence
• Participants must be 16 years and over 
• ID is required 
• A Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number. This is required prior to enrolments being processed. To obtain a USI number, please go to www.usi.gov.au to register.
• Online study:  Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies. Attendees must have completed their own online pre-course work (if applicable) prior to attending the face-to-face training day. If any applicant has not completed the online pre-course work, they will be unable to attend the session. This may incur further charges or cancellation fees.
• Participants must have the physical capability to be able to meet the demands of the practical skills demonstration; 
• Participants must wear enclosed shoes/safety shoes and comfortable/practical clothing
• Language, literacy and numeracy requirements - students must be able to read and correctly interpret required documentation relevant to working at height, speak clearly and unambiguously in English, explain, describe and verify sometimes complex needs and issues and understand the risk assessment requirements. Writing is required to the level of completing workplace forms and producing any required reports. Numeracy is required to the level of being able to correctly calculate total fall distances. 

Individuals undertaking this course with NNZMC PTY LTD T/a Industry Skills Solutions will be expected to complete verbal, written and practical assessment tasks.
