Entry Requirements
Participants must:
- Have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online studies.
- Language, literacy and numeracy requirements - students must be able to read and correctly interpret required documentation / training materials relevant to work health and safety for managers and supervisors. Additionally, the student will be required to answer multiple choice and true or false questions.
- Digital skills: students need basic digital skills to enrol and to complete any online learning, including using a computer, tablet or smartphone, a web browser and email.
Enrolment is confirmed only once all entry requirements have been met.

Course Details
This 100% online, self-paced course is presented by HMC Group Solutions. Across 9 lessons it covers:
- The NSW work health and safety framework: the Act, the Regulation, codes of practice and the regulators
- Who holds a duty: businesses (PCBUs), officers, workers and others
- Officer due diligence, including industrial manslaughter
- The manager’s and supervisor’s role, including “reasonably practicable” and ceasing unsafe work
- Managing risks with the risk management process and the hierarchy of control, including psychosocial risks
- Consultation, health and safety representatives, committees and issue resolution
- Incidents, notification and enforcement
- Codes of practice, and the duty to comply or achieve an equivalent or higher standard
- Leading safety every day: safe systems of work, SWMS, training, supervision and contractors
Written for supervisors, managers and officers in NSW workplaces, with civil construction, mining and quarrying, renewables, drilling, transport, workshop and agriculture scenarios.
It is benchmarked to the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW) as currently in force, the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2025 (NSW), and the NSW approved codes of practice.
Meeting the content of these instruments is not approval, endorsement or accreditation by SafeWork NSW or any regulator, and this course does not satisfy any licensing, high risk work or mandated training requirement.
Assessment
This course is a non-accredited course.
Learning is checked by 9 knowledge checks, one at the end of each lesson — 62 questions in total. Each knowledge check must be passed at 80% before the course continues, and retakes are permitted.
